The Samsung UE40D5520 Smart TV is a Freeview LED TV that contains the latest in viewing technology giving you beautiful natural colour tones with twice the resolution of standard HD TV. At the heart of the D5520 series is Samsung’s Smart Hub allowing you to harness the internet through your TV, share films, photos and music alongside Samsung TV Apps and Social TV.
After unboxing this set, you will find that it is amazingly thin at 27mm and looks pretty cool on a TV stand or you can purchase a wall bracket, which needs to be VESA 200 x 200 standard. You won’t have to worry about the weight on the wall as this is one of the lightest TVs for it’s size standing at 11.5Kg. Samsung also provide a simple fixing unit to mount this flush to the wall.

Samsung UE40D5520 Screen Resolution
The Samsung D5520 screen is absolutely fantastic with a resolution of 1920 x 1080p giving you beautifully natural pictures, which really do enhance your viewing. Setting up is easy and like most TVs the set essentially sets itself up as long as you have plugged in a TV aerial. It’s worth pointing out that the standard channels are also up-scaled and so the quality is really great on these as well as the HD channels.

One of the key selling points of this television is the Smart Hub on the Samsung UE40D5520 where Samsung provide the ability to enjoy all of your digital content and interactions in once place with AllShare. This features allows you to connect the D5520 to all of your compatible digital devices to access such things as music, photos, and films. You can also download the Allshare software for your PC, which will allow you to stream back content from your PC to the TV.
To get access to internet content you will need to plug the television’s Ethernet connections into your home router or plug-in the Samsung Wireless Adaptor which is sold separately. However once you have done this, you will be able to stream films from LoveFilm, access the BBC iPlayer, Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or stream news content from the BBC. Obviously if there are applications that require you to do a lot of typing, you may be better to connect a keyboard to the TV to make the experience a little smoother, but most of the time you won’t need to.
The Samsung D5520 series also boasts a nice guide feature, which allows you to watch a channel whilst seeing what’s on any other channel a week in advance, which no doubt you will find useful.

The TV provides great connectivity with 4 HDMI ports, 2 USB Ports, Scart, Ethernet, PC IN (D-sub), Headphone among others. For those of you with a mind on the environment, the TV has ‘ECO’ settings, which enable to you to modify the settings which are useful in a room at night where you can reduce the wattage significantly.
It is worth highlighting that the screen is incredibly glossy, shiny and reflective and therefore watching this with sunlight shining on it is a challenge although this can be difficult for many televisions.
